Humans of Kangaroo: Meet Lizhen
Behind every Kangaroo (product) is a living, breathing human being.
Humans of Kangaroo will allow you to get to know the inspiring and hard-working folks who make sure that everyone has access to home security. As a global team of almost 100 ‘Roos, we’re currently spread out across four cities: New York, Wroclaw, Shenzhen, and Manila.
Tell us your name, where you’re from, and what you do.
Lizhen He, the Sr. Product Designer in Kangaroo. I lived in 3 different cities, Paris, Shanghai and New York. China is my hometown.
Which office are you at?
New York Office. Now I’m working from home.
How long have you been at Kangaroo?
2 years and 3 months
What do you love about working for Kangaroo (or a start-up in general)?
I love the culture of Kangaroo. My managers really care about people.
Finish this sentence. Being in a start-up feels like building up the tower with LEGO. All the pieces I added help the company grow up in a visible way.
What does a day in your life look like?
My daily routine is normal. But reading is one thing that I insist on doing every night. That is my favorite moment of the day.
Share one random fact about yourself.
One of my best friends is going to give his piano to me because he’s moving to another city. I feel so excited because I’ve wanted to learn the piano for a long time. Thanks to my friend :)
What’s been keeping you busy in this pandemic?
I became a mom during the pandemic. I always try my best to keep a good balance between work and life.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
Don’t hurry, you are the best even when you are young.
Knock, knock. Your favorite person (or people)’s ringing at your Doorbell Camera. Who is it?
That will be my dad and mom. I haven’t seen them since 2020 because of the travel bans. And they’ve never meet their granddaughter face to face. I hope to see them soon.
If you could have dinner with any person, dead or alive, who would they be?
My parents, of course.
