Humans of Kangaroo: Meet Sandy

Behind every Kangaroo (product) is a living, breathing human being.

Humans of Kangaroo will allow you to get to know the inspiring and hard-working folks who make sure that everyone has access to home security. As a global team of almost 100 ‘Roos, we’re currently spread out across four cities: New York, Wroclaw, Shenzhen, and Manila.

Today, we’re chatting with Sandy from the Shenzhen team!

  • Tell us your name, where you’re from, and what you do.

I’m Sandy from the Shenzhen office, born and grew up in Swatow, Canton, working as a Supply Chain Specialist.

  • Which office are you at?

I am located in the Kangaroo office in Shenzhen, China.

  • How long have you been at Kangaroo?

It’s been over two months since I was onboarded.

  • What do you love about working for Kangaroo (or a start-up in general)?

Enjoying the flexibility of the job, looking forward to what’s new to come, easy-going colleagues, excellent team work.

  • Finish this sentence. Being in a start-up feels like kids growing up together, holding the pen, being a part of writing a new chapter of a book.

  • What does a day in your life look like?

Try to get things done on today’s to-do-list.

  • Share one random fact about yourself.

I’ve never see the same film or show twice except the TV serials Friends!

  • What’s been keeping you busy in this pandemic?

Cooking at home (only Cantonese cuisine); books; PUBG mobile game.

  • What advice would you give to your younger self?

I don’t have any advice for the younger me because I’m always choosing and doing the right things at any age.

  • Knock, knock. Your favorite person (or people)’s ringing at your Doorbell Camera. Who is it?

The parcel delivery man, who brings me something I ordered on the internet. Exciting to open the parcel like opening a gift.

  • If you could have dinner with any person, dead or alive, who would they be?

Sushi, an ancient Chinese poet in the Song Dynasty.

  • Any good podcast, books, or show recs?

Chinese Professor Luo Xiang’s subscription on Bilibili online platform about law & philosophy.

  • Favorite emoji?

    The doge emoji on Wechat.
