Hi, We’re Kangaroo.

And this is our story...  

Kangaroo was created for one reason: to make security accessible for everyone. For the longest time, the world of smart homes has been filled with fancy technology and intimidating gear—from futuristic and confusing cameras to scheming contracts that always seem to charge more month over month. But security shouldn’t have to be a cool kids table where only those who can afford security can sit with it. With that, Kangaroo was born.

Founders Max, Dhruv, James, and Victor built Kangaroo in 2018 with accessibility and affordability in mind. Security is a fundamental necessity that everyone should have a right to. Every product we build starts with three questions: is it simple, can it be produced at a price that everyone can afford, and is it secure. Our goals are simple, just like our products. The founding goal was and still is to bring security to everyone, no matter who you are or where you’re from.

Security made simple

While we started with a $19.99 Doorbell Camera — inarguably the most affordable doorbell in a sea of expensive smart home devices — we developed a range of products and services to help keep people, homes, and belongings protected. If you have WiFi and a smartphone, you can use Kangaroo. If you want security that is straightforward, you can use Kangaroo. Out of the whole suite of products we offer, none of them require tools or outside help to set up. “We take great pride in ensuring the entire customer experience is dependable, starting from the moment you place an order, to months after installation,” says Kangaroo CEO and Co-Founder Maximus Yaney. “Plus, we put cost-consciousness at the core of our products — so customers never have to pay for unnecessary bells and whistles.”

Going beyond your door 

We believe security extends to protecting your personal data and privacy, which is why we take several extra precautions to safeguard your information. As soon as you sign up with us, you’ll notice that we use your mobile phone — not an email address and password — to verify your identity. This is a small but important step that proves we take your data very seriously.

On top of this, our devices like the Privacy Camera, for instance, have additional layers of security. This prevents others from infiltrating your system and ensures only you can see what you see. Behind the scenes, we also bind the device to a specific household so outsiders can’t listen in without your knowledge. That’s just the tip of the iceberg.

“Our end goal is to go beyond surveillance. We want to protect all your belongings and give you peace of mind when things go wrong — whether it’s a stolen bike, a swiped package delivery, or a break-in,” states Dhruv Garg, President and Co-Founder of Kangaroo. “This is the bigger security picture we’re building.”

All of us at Kangaroo are motivated by one simple thing: having a positive and meaningful impact on the world. We’re a team of ‘Roos spread across the globe — namely, New York, Wroclaw, Shenzhen, and Manila. But our mission doesn’t end there. Eventually, we aim to make security accessible to more people in more cities and households. After all, security knows no race, age, or gender.
