Easy Installation Guide: Set Up Your Kangaroo Doorbell in Minutes
Kangaroo doorbells offer a simple way to enhance your home security without the need for complicated wiring or professional installation. Whether you're a DIY enthusiast or a tech novice, you'll find the process surprisingly easy. Let's break it down into two sections:
Kangaroo Photo Doorbell: Peel-and-Stick or Screw Mount
Charge Your Doorbell: Before you start, fully charge the battery of your Kangaroo Photo Doorbell using the included USB cable. This ensures a smooth setup process without interruptions.
Download the Kangaroo App: Head to your app store (google, apple) and download the free Kangaroo Security app. This app will be your command center for controlling, monitoring, and customizing your doorbell settings.
Create a Kangaroo Account: Open the app and create an account. This will allow you to access your doorbell's features from anywhere, whether you're at home or on the go.
Connect to Wi-Fi: Follow the in-app instructions to connect your Kangaroo Photo Doorbell to your home Wi-Fi network. A strong Wi-Fi signal is essential for seamless operation.
Choose Your Mounting Location: Select a location near your door that provides a clear view of visitors. A height of about 4-5 feet from the ground is usually ideal.
Prepare the Surface: Clean the mounting surface with a damp cloth to remove any dirt or debris. This will ensure a strong adhesive bond for the peel-and-stick option.
Mount the Doorbell:
Peel and Stick: Remove the protective backing from the adhesive strip on the back of the doorbell or mounting bracket. Firmly press the doorbell onto the wall, ensuring it's level.
Screw Mount: If you prefer a more secure installation, use the included screws and a screwdriver to mount the bracket or doorbell directly onto the wall.
Test the Doorbell: Press the doorbell button to verify that it's working properly. You should receive a notification on your phone and, if applicable, hear the chime sound.
Kangaroo Video Doorbell: Hardwired or Wireless
Turn Off the Power (Hardwired Only): If you're installing the hardwired version, locate your home's circuit breaker and turn off the power to your existing doorbell to avoid any electrical hazards.
Prepare Existing Wiring (Hardwired Only): If your existing doorbell has a chime, ensure it's compatible with the Kangaroo Video Doorbell. Disconnect the wires from your old doorbell.
Install the Mounting Bracket:
Wireless: Follow steps 5-7 from the battery-powered installation instructions.
Hardwired: Connect the existing doorbell wires to the terminals on the Kangaroo Video Doorbell mounting bracket. Use the included screws to secure the bracket to the wall.
Attach the Doorbell: Slide the Kangaroo Video Doorbell onto the mounting bracket until it clicks into place.
Restore Power and Connect to Wi-Fi (Hardwired Only): Turn the power back on at the circuit breaker. Then, follow steps 2-4 from the battery-powered installation instructions to connect your doorbell to Wi-Fi.
Test the Doorbell: Press the doorbell button to test the connection and video/audio quality.
Additional Tips:
Adjust the Angle: If needed, adjust the angle of your doorbell for optimal viewing.
